milonga 1
At a Milonga, you have 3 styles of Tango. Argentine Tango. Argentine Vals, and Argentine Milonga. What’s Milonga ? Think of Milonga as Tango’s peppier older Sibling with LOTS of energy, and really really cool toys that you WANT to play with. However MIlonga is not for the faint of heart. Of the 3 Argentine dances, its the one that seemingly pushes you to your limits until you remember something…this is supposed to be FUN! So we’re going to have fun with the foundations of Milonga.
In this class we’re going to demystify the form. We’re going to take apart the musical elements that make up milonga music. And lastly we’re going to show you simple but seemingly complex patterns that you can use today, to go out on a social dance floor with (with a little practice) later on.
This class will be broken up into 3 parts: The Music. The Motion. The Motion to the Music!
WEEK 1 – The Walking, ‘Talking’, Milonga
WEEK 2 – The Scissor Milonga.
WEEK 3 – The Crossing Milonga.
Date: FEB 24 – MAR 10
